Focus Hacks: Get More Done in Less Time

It’s easy to get pulled in a dozen directions during the workday, with emails, chat notifications, meetings, and endless to-dos. The good news is that small changes can dramatically improve focus and productivity.

1. Time Block Your Day

Set aside dedicated blocks of time for specific tasks and treat them like meetings you cannot miss. During these blocks, close unrelated apps and avoid checking email. Even 30 to 60 minutes of uninterrupted focus can achieve more than a scattered morning.

2. Use the Two Minute Rule

If a task takes two minutes or less, do it immediately. This keeps small tasks from piling up and breaking your focus later.

3. Minimise Digital Distractions

  • Turn off non essential notifications on your phone and computer
  • Close unnecessary browser tabs
  • Use focus modes or Do Not Disturb in Teams, Slack, or Outlook during critical work periods

4. Break Work into Chunks

Work in 25 to 50 minute intervals with short breaks in between. Techniques like the Pomodoro Method help your brain stay fresh and avoid burnout.

5. Prioritise the Most Important Tasks First

Start your day with one or two high impact tasks. Completing them early gives a sense of accomplishment and momentum, making the rest of the day feel easier to manage.

6. Create a Distraction Free Environment

Even small changes make a difference:

  • Keep your desk tidy
  • Use noise cancelling headphones or background music
  • Let colleagues know when you need focus time

Focus isn’t about working harder, it’s about working smarter. Pick one of these hacks today and see how much more you can accomplish in the same amount of time. Connect with TechPath on LinkedIn for more productivity hacks and business insights.
