ACS Enhances IT Systems and Security with TechPath

ACS Engineers develop practical engineering solutions that create value and help people navigate the ever-changing compliance environment. Servicing property owners, local councils, and developers in a multitude of industries, they were looking to consolidate IT systems and improve accessibility.

The Challenge

Located in Southeast Queensland, ACS Engineers is a consulting engineering and project management firm with a solid reputation for service delivery. They had recently moved to a largely cloud oriented IT environment but were experiencing issues with productivity and performance.

Angela Harlen, Director of ACS Engineers said, ‘We needed our IT systems to be streamlined. They were disjointed and did not align with our business operations like we expected. We needed it all to sync and have hardware that matched the requirements of our new cloud capabilities.’

They had Internet connection issues which was causing difficulties for staff using cloud applications, and their phone system did not offer flexibility for effective work from home. There were concerns around security as there was no password management in place, and ageing PCs needed to be replaced to improve user experience.

The Solution

TechPath used a consultative approach and worked closely with ACS Engineers to understand their day-to-day business operations and the challenges with the new cloud environment.

Angela said, ‘The initial audit of our IT systems was a very worthwhile exercise. It gave us time to assess the problems and focus on the real issues that mattered most to our business.’

The solution improved Internet and networking in the Boonah and Beaudesert offices. TechPath recommended a new Cloud PBX phone solution that would better support remote workers. Azure AD and Intune was enabled and configured for enhanced security, automatic computer deployment, and cloud management. Security was updated to have modern endpoint protection with centrally managed passwords. ACS moved to a cloud hosted print and signature management solution and migrated suitable company data to SharePoint for greater productivity and accessibility. Finally, end user training was provided to ensure all employees felt comfortable with the changes in the IT environment.

The Outcome

The recommended solution addressed all the known IT challenges and ACS Engineers are now experiencing improved productivity and a much better work from home experience. Employees can now easily connect to the network and there is no loss of productivity due to IT issues. The technology environment is much more secure, and downtime has been eliminated.

When asked why TechPath was selected Angela said, ‘We wanted to partner with a company that was focused on streamlining for the long term and not a band aid fix. We needed a solution that focused on the project problems, not locking our IT systems for years in a managed service agreement.’

She added, ‘The language and information provided was very useful. It was understandable and relatable to business owners. The best question we were asked in the audit was “what keeps you awake at night?” We worked hand in glove with TechPath to create an IT environment that helps us sleep better. We know the solution will offer long term value.’
