How Changing IT Approach Helped These 3 Brisbane Businesses Achieve Success
You’ve done your research, ploughed through vendor information and analyst white papers, but sometimes there’s nothing like hearing from another business to see how a solution worked in the real world. Fortunately, the Brisbane community is generous in sharing experiences, which can be a great source of useful information that you won’t always find in a brochure.
We often recommend speaking with a similar sized business facing the same sort of challenges as your own organisation. Here, three TechPath customers share a taste of what made their own projects a success.
Boltmasters: Champions of Connectivity
As a leading supplier of quality fastening products, Boltmasters has six Australian branch offices, and further New Zealand group offices, linked by a real-time computer system. Data is centralised, and phones run over VoIP, so any disruption to internet services can have a big impact on the business. Unfortunately, outages were not unusual.
After examining Boltmasters’ needs, TechPath designed a modern SD-WAN solution with 4G failover that is fully carrier independent. While the changeover occurs smoothly, without Boltmasters noticing, TechPath’s helpdesk team is alerted immediately, and we quickly check and rectify any issue.
‘To date, we have not had a single outage in our communications since installing the SD-WAN solution. Outages on NBN no longer affect our operations,’ said Jake Hill, National Sales Manager of Boltmasters. Read the full case study.
AR Developments: Enhanced Cyber Security
For more than 20 years, AR Developments has developed a reputation for building quality turnkey townhouses across South-East Queensland. Investors and owner-occupiers trust AR Developments with their financial future, and the business takes this responsibility seriously. After a number of cybercrime incidents made news, the business wanted to make sure it had the right measures in place.
TechPath was engaged to perform a security audit, and while the business already had established security practices, the audit showed the need to keep up with technology advances. TechPath installed a modern firewall, and helped AR Developments to act on other recommendations, including multi-factor authentication, improved password measures, and stronger user account controls.
‘I still hear of other businesses being hacked or compromised, which keeps us vigilant,’ said Mick McMillian, CEO of AR Developments. Read the full case study.
Jubilee Community Care: Dependable IT Systems
As a leading provider of in-home aged care services in the North and West of Brisbane, Jubilee Community Care relies on secure, dependable IT systems to serve its valued clients. The relationship with Jubilee’s incumbent IT service provider was reactive to issues, lacking a forward strategy, and there were no recommendations for proactive improvement measures. Slow internet and server speeds were making it hard to perform everyday work functions. It was time to move on.
TechPath began by conducting a comprehensive assessment of Jubilee’s systems and processes, and presented to detailed report of their findings, along with recommendations for the future. A managed IT support service was custom designed for Jubilee to provide immediate and ongoing support needs, as well as modernise the IT environment. Microsoft 365 was rolled out, using a not-for-profit discount. A high-speed fibre connection was installed to enable a new VoIP phone system. The server environment was simplified by moving workloads to Microsoft Azure, with additional reconfiguration of server settings scoring a 40% saving on monthly hosting charges.
‘TechPath was transparent and always willing to take the time to ensure we had a comprehensive understanding of the proposal, using terms we understood and not just technical jargon,’ said Leigh Willett, Systems Support Officer with Jubilee Community Care. Read the full case study.
