Windows 7 Media Center – Black screen on rewind and pause of live tv

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Have you noticed within the past 3-4 months, windows 7 media center started getting a black screen when rewinding, pausing and resuming of live tv.

Eventually (sometimes up to a minute), the live tv will catch back up; but this is frustrating.

The fix is very simple as per below:

Locate and delete these two registry keys and reboot to fix the issue:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurr entVersionMedia CenterExtensibilityEntry Points{7e7a8710-9e4a-40a3-824a-7b0baf38abcf}]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurr entVersionMedia CenterExtensibilityApplications{a0cd8951-e5b6-4662-9c9c-d56c5b38ca59}]

Remember you should always backup your registry before making changes. See for assistance.

  1. Thank you very much. I had been also putting up with this for a while, amazed that it actually worked. Note: I did not need to reboot the PC. I simply closed media center, and other applications, re-opened media center, and all was good!
